Inbound optimization in the automotive industry
From small cars to SUVs, from sports cars to family vans: The individuality in the automotive industry brings with it enormous complexity in production. To ensure that the production lines do not come to a standstill, a large number of parts and components from hundreds of suppliers have to reach the plants just-in-time. In this context, warehousing is also becoming increasingly important for many automotive manufacturers. In this area of tension, logistics plays a decisive role.
In this online seminar, we will show you how to optimize transportation to supply production facilities using a 3-stage model. Based on a given component quantity structure for each car model, the following points must be taken into account:
- Consideration of the given capacities in the incoming goods department as well as storage spaces in the warehouse
- Definition of the cost-optimal combination of transport channel (area forwarding, direct transport or milk run) and delivery frequency (daily, weekly or monthly)
- Equal distribution of the workload in the incoming goods department
In addition, we address the question of how you can optimize incoming supply flows with the help of dynamic planning, even in the event of short-term changes in volumes, taking into account the available warehouse capacities.
Our experts will be available to answer your questions in the final Q&A session.
